FALL 2006

STATUS: Sphere Project- Crestone, Colorado USA
I have 88% of the straw bale in and ready for stucco. 95% of framing is done with the greenhouse to finish. Still no movment in beam pockets, no signs of cracks or breeches in the ferro-cement/ masonry shell. After 3.5 years the lower portion of sphere ie. underground shell, is dry and stable. I am hoping to finish the exterior Nov. 06

SUMMER 2006
There is about 45% of the straw bales in place and 85% of the framing complete. Still no expansion of load cracking in the 2 inch masonry shell. The square foot is 2100 on 4 levels. The tire wall in the conservatory is 14 feet high with a passive mitigation system for the off-gassing. It was a good choice to use semi-truck tires on the first 3 courses.
